Polypropylene (PP) is a lightweight material with exceptional heat and chemical resistance. The glass fibres inside the filament give it great dimensional stability, which means little to no warping during printing. On the other hand, the glass fibres are highly abrasive, and a hardened nozzle is a must. The PP Glass Fibre offers high mechanical resistance, plus it can be coloured, as the base material’s colour is translucent white. The material is easy to print and the surface has an attractive, rough matte finish. Note that the Prusament PP Glass Fibre is not ideal for printing tiny details and requires a hardened nozzle.

Prusa do not guarantee a perfect winding for this type of filament.

Best use

Due to its lightweight properties and extreme heat and chemical resistance, the Prusament PP Glass Fibre is suitable for demanding applications in the automotive and aerospace industries. It can serve its purpose in laboratories for custom equipment, such as vial racks. Hobbyists may find this filament useful for printing drone parts and other components that require outstanding mechanical properties.

Best with PP sheet

PP sheets are highly recommended for printing polypropylene-based materials as they provide perfect adhesion. Otherwise, with regular PEI sheets, you will face extremely low surface adhesion, which can be improved only by using additional accessories, like polypropylene tape. Preparing such a separation layer takes some time and requires some skill, plus the tape leaves glue on the print surface. With the PP print sheet, simply degrease the surface with IPA as usual, and you’re ready to go.
